Valentine run 2026

Our first race of the 2026 season is done. On Valentine’s Day, we ran the 5 km Valentine’s Run near Hradec Králové. The atmosphere was amazing – good vibes, relaxed mood and love everywhere, all in red and pink.

As usual, we raced as the whole family. Only Karolínka stayed in the role of supporter and camerawoman this time – the minimum age was 13, so she still has a few years to wait for her start.

Natálka chose Amiga, Erik ran with Bella, and I took our oldest veteran, Diamond, for a little race outing. She loves running, and even though she doesn’t have much pulling power anymore, you could see how happy she was. She’s still in great shape, so we enjoyed the race together at our own comfortable pace, just for the joy of it.

Natálka and Amiga set a killer 4:00 min/km pace. They pushed as hard as they could until Natálka felt a bit sick to her stomach and had to slow down briefly for a while. In the end, it was an excellent 8th place in a strong field of 89 female competitors with large dogs.

Erik and Bella tried to keep up with Natálka and held on bravely. Their average pace over the whole course was 4:10 min/km. Even with five decades behind him, much younger racers still can’t shake him off.

Overall: 9th out of 33.

This was a wonderful start to the new running season.
