EDR Dog Biathlon 2025

On the same day as the Dog Triathlon, a Dog Biathlon was also held at Lake Marokánka near Hradec Králové — a canicross race combined with laser rifle shooting. We competed in both races that day, so it was literally a day packed with action.

In Dog Biathlon, not only running speed matters but also perfect dog control at the shooting range, so the dog doesn’t distract the handler. Equally important is the competitor’s ability to calm down and steady themselves during shooting. There are two shooting stages — one standing and one kneeling — with five shots each. If a competitor misses the target, they receive a time penalty in the form of extra seconds. The running sections are in between the shooting stages. The total race distance was about 4 km for adult competitors. Juniors run a shortened 2 km course with only one shooting stage.

We entered the race in full force — our entire family as well as many dogs bred by our kennel competing for NIKTEL WHITE WARRIORS team. We thoroughly enjoyed the race. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side and the heat was intense. Thankfully, the nearby sandpit lake provided welcome refreshment for both runners and their furry partners before and after the race.

Erik + Amiga — 1st place / 13 (men 36+, dog over 20 kg)

Kája + Frozen — 20th place / 24 (junior girls)

Mirka + Bella — 8th place / 28 (women 36+, dog over 20 kg)

Valentýnka + Amálka — 7th place / 24 (junior girls)

Vlastík + Destiny — 4th place / 13 (men 36+, dog over 20 kg)
