Czech Dog Run Glacier
This year’s season started for our racing team NIKTEL WHITE WARRIORS sharply right after the New Year with a winter obstacle race in Břehy near Přelouč. Fortunately, we avoided extreme frosts, so it was “just” cold and rainy, but we didn’t freeze, nor did we have to wade through drifts of snow. Even the organizers were nice to us and exceptionally did not send us into the water. The route itself is quite simple, flat around the lake, only 3 km, so a decent sprint. Plus 12 obstacles. I have to greatly appreciate the efforts of the organizers to constantly change and innovate the obstacles, every race is a series of new ones, so we are never bored on the track.
Children started first. The route is the same 3 km as for adults, only the obstacles are slightly lighter.
  • Karolínka with Frozen (+ me as a brake) – they trudged bravely the whole way, except for two stops for sniffles, they didn’t change their pace once. Time 22:11, 1st place in the 5-7 years category
  • Natálka and Vendetta, who raced for the first time since the birth of the Jesus children, and she was so happy that she dragged Natálka through the course in an incredible time of 16:39 and they also stood on the highest place with more than a minute ahead of the next competitor – i.e. also 1st place in category 8 – 12 years from a total of 15 children (girls+boys together)
  • Valentine with Amálka – this time they ran without a brake, they managed it beautifully by themselves, dad Vlastík tried to run just as an escort next to them, but he found out that an 8-year-old child attached to a dog is faster than an adult without a dog, so the girls actually ran away yourself, time 20:30 and 6th place/15
  • Vlastík ran onto the track of his race with Destiny a little while after the finish with Valča, so he had a slight handicap, but he soon got knocked around and ran the track in 18:27 and took 7th place out of 15 men 40+
  • Renča and Amálka shot off like rockets, unfortunately after a few hundred meters they stumbled and fell painfully, but the girls are brave, they got up after a while and finished the race. Despite losing a lot of valuable seconds, a nice time of 19:39, 13th place / 31 among women 40+
  • Then it was Naďa and Barnie’s turn. Barnie is a locomotive and has a huge drive and desire to run forward. With his massive figure, he slides nicely with everyone behind him. Overall 54th place out of 88 women aged 16-39.
  • It was my turn until a few competitors before the end, so the track was already solidly trampled, mud everywhere, there was also a bit of a queue here and there at the obstacles, but we enjoyed it like never before. I took Bellinka, also for the first time since giving birth, and you could see how happy she was. I could barely hold her at the start. After a few meters, the first obstacle. Before the volunteer handed me the bags hanging on the pole, she circled him and started on, not even noticing that she tripped his legs with the wrapped leash and he laid down both wide and long. With this, I apologize to the master for my stupidity. From then on it was quite smooth. We managed all the obstacles, no handicap, just my throwing. I always hit the mark until the umpteenth attempt, so I wasted a lot of seconds, but still we finished only 6 seconds behind the winner and finished in a great 2nd place with a time of 16:21 (luckily, still faster than Natálka)
